Physical Examination

Once students arrive at Kolob Canyon RTC, they receive a health and physical exam by our staff physician. If a student is being transferred in from another treatment center, we will obtain a copy of the most recent physical received by the student at that location. Any other pertinent medical reports will be requested as necessary.

Medical, Psychiatric and Dental Care

Parents send a copy of their insurance card and any other pertinent information to Kolob Canyon RTC at the time of admission. In the event that a student requires an off-campus doctor visit your insurance will then be billed.  Any medical care that is performed on your daughter that is not covered by insurance will be billed for you to pay privately. Additionally, our staff nurse will contact parents in order to obtain approval for each medical visit.  Excellent medical care is located within minutes from our location.  If your daughter requires orthodontic or other specialist care, these services are available locally.

Dr. Ryan Williams is our program Psychiatrist.  He meets with girls once or twice per month as needed.  Dr. Williams has a unique backgroud that makes him specifically qualified to work with adolescents.  He first trained to be a nurse.  After a few years he attended medical school and became a Pediatrician.  He then decided to become Board Certified in Child and Adolescent Psychiatry.  He has ample knowledge and expertise about working with the needs of teens.  Dr. Williams will also provide intake evaluations.  He involves parents in each visit with the girl, consulting on observations and medication recommendations.  Medication refills and changes are coordinated by Dr. Williams and the program nurse.  Following each appointment, Dr. Williams contacts parents to discuss how their daughter is doing.  All medication changes are thoroughly discussed with parents prior to any change being made.

Prescription Medications

We ask you to send with your daughter a 30-day supply of medications when they come to Kolob Canyon Residential Treatment Center. Please help us by having your physician list the following information on every prescription for your daughter:

  1. Drug name
  2. Proper dosage amount (i.e., 200mg or 2 tsp.)
  3. Recommended administration times (especially when different from the label)

Kolob Canyon Residential Treatment Center can refill prescriptions in a number of different ways. We can have your current pharmacist transfer the prescription over to our pharmacist. You may mail in refills. Additionally, you may want our staff physician to write new prescriptions for your daughter.  Our staff will always attempt to contact you about any changes in your daughter's medical condition and/or medications.
